How are office glass partitions installed, and how long does it take?

A typical office glass partition project takes three to seven weeks from first enquiry to handover, but only one to three days on site for most rooms. The time is mostly glass manufacture after drawings are approved, because toughened glass is cut and processed to exact sizes before it arrives.

What are the steps?

Enquiry and guide price; site survey; drawings and fixed quote; your approval and landlord consent; manufacture; installation; snagging and handover. Each stage has a clear sign-off so nothing is made until you have agreed the drawings.

What happens on installation day?

We protect floors and furniture, fix the head and floor channels, lift each panel into place with vacuum lifters, seal the joints, hang and adjust the doors, apply manifestation and clean the glass. Large panels need a clear route from the loading point, which we check at survey.

Can you work while we are in the building?

Yes. We plan noisy drilling and glass deliveries outside busy hours where needed, keep work areas tidy and segregated, and can work evenings or weekends. Phased installations let you keep using part of the floor.

What do you need from us?

A floor plan or rough sketch, access details and parking or loading arrangements, landlord consent if you lease the building, and decisions on door positions, manifestation and any power for switchable glass.

More questions

How long does glass take to make?

Standard toughened glass usually takes two to three weeks after drawings are approved. Acoustic, curved, switchable and fire-rated glass take longer.

Is there much mess?

Very little compared to building walls. Most dust comes from drilling fixings, which we control with extraction and floor protection.
