Frameless glass doors

A frameless glass door is a door leaf made entirely from toughened safety glass, hung on patch fittings, glass-to-glass hinges or a floor spring, with no surrounding frame. It sits flush with a frameless partition so the whole wall reads as glass.

Guide price: £950 to £1,900 per door, fitted, ex VAT, depending on hardware and size.

How do frameless glass office doors work?

Most office doors are 10mm or 12mm toughened glass on a floor spring or top pivot with a self-closing action. Handles range from slim D pulls to full-height ladder handles, with locks fitted to a bottom patch or a corner lock box.

Glass doors can be fitted with acoustic seals and threshold seals to support meeting room acoustics, and with access control such as card readers and electric locks coordinated with your security installer.

When are frameless glass office doors the right choice?

  • Meeting room and office doors in frameless walls
  • Reception and lift-lobby entrances
  • Double doors to boardrooms and suites

Frameless glass doors: questions

Can a glass office door be locked?

Yes. Locks are fitted into a bottom patch fitting or a corner lock box, and doors can be made ready for card or fob access control.

Are frameless glass doors accessible?

They can be. We size doors to give the clear opening width your building needs, use contrasting manifestation and select handles and closer strengths that meet Approved Document M.

Can a glass door be added to an existing partition?

Usually, yes. We replace a fixed panel with a door set and new glass sizes to suit, after checking the existing system.

Do glass doors close on their own?

Floor springs and top-pivot closers bring the door back to closed and can hold it open at 90 degrees if needed.
