Glass private offices and pods

A glass office pod is a small enclosed office built inside a larger open-plan space, glazed on two to four sides, giving one or two people a quiet room without losing the light and openness of the floor around it.

Guide price: £4,500 to £12,000 per room, fitted, ex VAT, depending on size, sides glazed and acoustics.

How do glass office pods work?

Pods can be built against an existing wall, in a corner or freestanding in the middle of the floor. Freestanding rooms need their own ceiling or a fixing to the slab above, plus ventilation, lighting and power, which we coordinate with your other trades.

A single-person focus room can be as small as about 2 by 2 metres; a manager's office for a desk and two visitors is typically 3 by 3.5 metres. Acoustic glass and a sealed door make a pod usable for calls and video meetings.

When are glass office pods the right choice?

  • Managers' offices on open-plan floors
  • Focus rooms and call booths
  • Small businesses in shared or serviced buildings

Glass private offices and pods: questions

Does a freestanding glass office need its own ceiling?

If you want sound privacy, yes. An open-top pod is cheaper but sound travels over the walls. A lid also gives somewhere to fix lighting and ventilation.

How do you ventilate a small glass office?

Through the existing ceiling ventilation if the room reaches it, or with a ducted or acoustic transfer vent if the pod has its own ceiling. We coordinate this with your M&E contractor.

Can a glass pod be moved later?

Framed and demountable pods can be taken down and refitted. Frameless rooms can be moved but usually need some new glass sizes.

How small can a glass office be?

A one-person focus room can be around 2 by 2 metres. Below that, a manufactured phone booth is usually better value.
