How much do office glass partitions cost?

How long does it take to install a glass partition?

Most meeting rooms and offices are fitted in one to three days once the glass is made. Manufacture usually takes two to six weeks from approved drawings, depending on the system.

Do glass partitions need building regulations approval?

New internal partitions can affect fire safety, escape routes and access, so building regulations often apply. In England the relevant parts are Approved Documents B, K and M. We provide drawings and test evidence for building control or your approved inspector.

Do I need my landlord's permission?

Most commercial leases need the landlord's written consent, known as a licence for alterations, before partitions are installed. We supply drawings, method statements and product data for your application.

Can you install while we are working?

Yes. We plan noisy work, deliveries and glass handling around your business, and can work evenings or weekends where needed.

Which areas do you cover?

We survey and install across England, Wales and Scotland from our base in Birmingham. See the areas page for counties and cities.

Are glass partitions soundproof?

No wall is completely soundproof, but glass can perform very well. Single acoustic glass typically achieves around Rw 35 to 38 dB and double glazed walls around Rw 42 to 48 dB, enough for confidential meetings when the junctions are detailed properly.

Who will carry out the work?

Your contract, invoice and installation are with S&K Glazing Limited, company number 14088194, part of the S&K Group. Office Glass Walls is its trading name for office glazing.

Are frameless glass partitions safe?

Yes. Every panel is toughened or laminated safety glass that meets the impact classes in BS EN 12600, and Approved Document K manifestation is applied so the glass is clearly visible. Toughened glass breaks into small blunt pieces; laminated glass stays in place if it cracks.

Are framed glass partitions cheaper than frameless?

Usually, yes. The frame lets us use thinner glass and absorbs small variations in the building, so both materials and fitting time come down. On a typical office the saving is in the region of 15 to 25 percent.

Are black-framed partitions steel or aluminium?

Most are aluminium with a steel-look profile, which keeps cost and weight down. Solid steel is available when a project needs it, at a higher price and longer lead time.

How much quieter is double glazing than single glazing?

Typically 8 to 12 dB better on paper, which most people hear as roughly half as loud. Speech in the next room goes from understandable to a murmur.

What does Rw mean on a glass partition?

Rw is the weighted sound reduction index, a single laboratory figure in decibels that describes how much airborne sound a wall stops. Higher is better. Each 10 dB is heard as roughly halving the loudness.

What is the difference between E and EI fire-rated glass?

E (integrity) glass stops flames and smoke for the rated time. EI glass also insulates, keeping the far side cool enough for people to pass safely. Escape routes often need EI.
