Glass partitions for healthcare, dental and clinics

Clinics need privacy for patients, surfaces that are easy to clean and walls that make small sites feel calm and bright. Glass with frosted privacy bands at seated height gives dignity without closing rooms in.

  • Frosted bands or switchable glass for patient privacy
  • Smooth glass and sealed frames that are easy to clean
  • Acoustic glass for consulting and counselling rooms
  • Fire-rated sections where rooms open onto escape routes

Questions

How much quieter is double glazing than single glazing?

Typically 8 to 12 dB better on paper, which most people hear as roughly half as loud. Speech in the next room goes from understandable to a murmur.

Can you fit blinds inside a double glazed partition?

Yes. Integral blinds sit sealed in the cavity, so they never need dusting, and can be operated with a knob, a slider or a motor.

Is manifestation a legal requirement?

In England, Approved Document K requires glazing in critical locations to be made apparent, which usually means manifestation on glass walls and doors. Workplace regulations also require transparent surfaces to be marked where people could collide with them.

At what height should manifestation go?

Approved Document K gives two zones: between about 850mm and 1000mm, and between about 1400mm and 1600mm above floor level.
